Peanut butter is one of the most
popular foods in the world. It is also, when organic, one of the most
healthy foods you can put into your body. It is loaded with vitamins and
minerals and packs a hefty protein punch. In Vietnam, the worlds #1
producer of cashew nuts, they take peanut butter and make it even better
by using cashew nuts!
In all actuality, the cashew is not
really a nut. It is the seed from the cashew apple and usually can never
be purchased in its raw state. The cashew nuts you see in stores are
roasted and sold either salted or unsalted.
To make Vietnamese
Cashew Butter, you can use either the salted or unsalted variety. This
is very easy to make and can be used in any Asian sauce which calls for
peanut butter and yes, you can even spread it on bread, add a little
fruit jelly or jam and enjoy a tastier version of the famed PBJ
sandwich!
This Vietnamese Cashew Butter is vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free!

Subtly Sweet: Asian Cocoa-Nut Butter Cookies
Are you ready for a sweet weekend? Once
you try these new Asian Cocoa-Nut Butter cookies, you will understand
why the desserts of Asia are among the most quaintly delicious on this
planet.
When I first tried these from a bakery in China, I was taken back by the subtle sweetness, which allowed all the flavors of the cookie to be tasted. The slight chocolate flavor, due to cocoa, is perfect and the slight spiciness from the 5-spice powder really brings out the flavor of the ground walnuts.
Once these cookies come out of the oven, you want to dust them with some powdered sugar. The reason you want to dust them while the cookies are still hot is that the heat from the cookies will slightly melt the sugar thus giving a natural frosting on the cookies!
Luckily these cookies are very simple to make, so you really have no excuse not to try a delightfully sweet treat from Asia!

Meatloaf Like Never Before: Asian Meatloaf
It has always been thought that
meatloaf was an American creation. The fact is, meatloaf has been made
throughout Asia for centuries. It was originated as a way to use various
portions of meat before they spoiled. They simply ground all the meat
together, formed it and then baked it!
This Asian Meatloaf fuses many genres of Asian cooking. Here we will use ground beef and pork. As a filler we will use cooked rice. It will be spiced using ginger and garlic and flavored with hoisin and soy sauce. There is no egg used in Asian Meatloaf.
To add a touch of sweetness and some very subtle heat, the meatloaf is glazed with Asian Sweet Chili Sauce (known as Mae Ploy).

All Natural and Gluten-Free: Homemade Teriyaki Sauce
It is one of the most popular sauces in
Asian cuisine. It is also one of the most expensive when you buy it at
the market. Today on Fusion Asiana, we'll save you money and show you
how we make our own Teriyaki Sauce. All natural! No preservatives, no
MSG, no chemicals and gluten-free!
I should warn you this sauce does contain alcohol. One of the ingredients in true Teriyaki Sauce is sherry (a sweet liquor). Teriyaki Sauce is very simple to make at home. If you can bring liquid to a boil, you can make your own Teriyaki Sauce.
This recipe will make 1 1/2 cups of Teriyaki Sauce. Once made, store it in a sealed bottle (or jar) in a cupboard and it should last a few weeks.

The Power of Black Seeds: Malaysian Black Seed Coconut Shrimp
If you have never had black seeds, you are missing out on one of the most nutritious foods you can put into your body. Do yourself a favor and Google "black seeds" and then head to your local Asian market and pick some up. What are black seeds? They are black sesame seeds!
Though at first glimpse you might think these are a version of the classic Asian dish called Tempura Shrimp. Though there are some similarities in their preparation, there is no tempura used here. The shrimp will be dipped into a coconut batter and then deep-fried. This is a very simple and quick dish to prepare at home.

The Flavors of Asia: Sweet Soy Ginger Pork with Jasmine Rice
If you have never had Jasmine rice, you are in for one very special treat. It is a short grain rice with an incredible aroma and delicate flavor. It does cost a little bit more than a regular white rice but once you try it, I think you'll the added cost to be well worth it.
Have you ever dined at your favorite Asian restaurant and once you have tasted the entree, you asked yourself, "how do they get those flavors?" It is a common question and the answer is rather simple. It is the marriage of flavors!
Asian's, no matter the country, have an unbelievable knack for marrying flavors and this dish, Sweet Soy Ginger Pork, is a perfect example. Here we have a marriage of ginger, honey and soy sauce. Each of these ingredients compliment the other to absolute perfection.
