Subtly Sweet: Asian Cocoa-Nut Butter Cookies

Are you ready for a sweet weekend? Once you try these new Asian Cocoa-Nut Butter cookies, you will understand why the desserts of Asia are among the most quaintly delicious on this planet.

When I first tried these from a bakery in China, I was taken back by the subtle sweetness, which allowed all the flavors of the cookie to be tasted. The slight chocolate flavor, due to cocoa, is perfect and the slight spiciness from the 5-spice powder really brings out the flavor of the ground walnuts.

Once these cookies come out of the oven, you want to dust them with some powdered sugar. The reason you want to dust them while the cookies are still hot is that the heat from the cookies will slightly melt the sugar thus giving a natural frosting on the cookies!

Luckily these cookies are very simple to make, so you really have no excuse not to try a delightfully sweet treat from Asia!
