Dim Sum Classic: Thai Steamed Chicken Dumplings

One of the more popular dishes in the realm of Asian cuisine are steamed dumplings. Asian dumplings are nowhere near their American counterpart. They are very savory and quite fun to eat. They can also either be served as an appetizer (dim sum) or part of an entree.

The secret to making any variety of Asian dumpling is wrapping them. It does take a few steps but once you have a few accomplished it is actually very easy. Two things to remember: Keep the wrappers moist and keep the area you're working (a large plate works well) moist.

You can use any type of savory filling. When we make these Thai Steamed Chicken Dumplings, we like to be simple. We simply use some chicken and then boost it with some of the exotic flavors of Thailand.

You can buy Asian dumpling wrappers in the produce section of most supermarkets and at all Asian markets. They are quite inexpensive and what you don't use, you can wrap and freeze until you make your next batch!
