The Ultimate in Chocolate! The Shanghai Chocolate Torte

If you happen to be a fan of chocolate, you may want to sit down when you read this recipe and see these pictures. This chocolate torte, created by Chef Larry Edwards for Fusion Asiana, is not only the ultimate chocolate torte but it is also laced with the exotic flavors of Asia!

What makes this the ultimate chocolate torte? It combines both cocoa and chocolate. To make things even more delicious, it is laced throughout with fresh ginger, Asian spices and toasted sesame seeds. Even better, it is very simple to make at home!

There are really no special tools needed to make a Shanghai Chocolate Torte. For ease in removing the torte, it is recommended that you bake it in a spring-form pan and they can be purchased at cookware stores for very little money.

When it comes to both the cocoa and the chocolate, you do want very high quality products. At Fusion Asiana we use Ghirardelli Majestic Cocoa Powder and a chocolate with a cocoa index of over 70%.
