Classic Chinese: Szechuan Egg Foo Young

One of the more popular dishes at Chinese eateries throughout the world is egg foo young. What exactly is egg foo young? Quite simply, it is a Chinese omelet. There are various versions of egg foo young, which include different fillings and often times different sauces. This version from Fusion Asiana is a typical egg foo young with a very special Szechuan flair.

To make egg foo young, you really do not need any special ingredients or tools. All you need are basic ingredients you can find at your local market with an Asian section or your local Asian market. Of course it makes it much easier if you also have a non-stick pan to make the egg foo young in.

The special Szechuan flair for this egg foo young is in the sauce you'll drape over the final dish. It is an Asian sweet chili sauce, which can be found in the Asian section of all markets. It is a little more sweet than it is hot and greatly enhances the overall flavor of the egg foo young.
