A Fusing of India and Asia: Tandoori Masala Shrimp and Asparagus

This is one of those Asian dishes you hear about as being quite "fragrant," and the reason for this is the use of a spice blend from the western regions of Asia (near India) called Tandoori spice. You can find tandoori spice in most markets and all Asian markets.

In India, the use of tandoori spice is often with yogurt. Yogurt is very seldom used in Asian cooking but the flavors included in the spice blend are quite popular. Tandoori spice goes very well with chicken and as you will find out with this recipe, it is outstanding with shrimp.

This is a very simple dish to prepare at home and pretty quick. You will want to remember to parboil the asparagus and in the pictures we'll tell you how. The best asparagus for this dish are thin stalks, which are often the younger variety of the vegetable.
